Joannah GlaeserOne of our IWS alumni, Joannah Glaeser (Kappa, 2007), died on May 3 after a battle with cancer. The following is her obituary. Joannah will be sorely missed by all of us at IWS.

Dr. Joannah Ruth Glaeser was born in Southern California on February 11, 1945. Her career choice was to be an elementary school teacher. She simultaneously was very active in the church pastured by her parents, Willard and Ione Glaeser, serving in Children's Ministries and increasingly helping in all areas of church administration and adult life.

In 1972, she came on the full-time staff at Living Waters Christian Fellowship, as a faculty member and administrator of Living Word Bible College, founded in 1971, where she has continually taught classes and served on the LWBC Board until her passing on May 3, 2009. She also served as an ordained minister and elder at Living Waters Christian Fellowship, as well as church administrator and office manager.

Joannah received a Master's degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, several years ago, and culminated her theological training with an earned Doctorate from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Florida, presenting her Doctoral Thesis in the field of the History of Revival Worship.

She faithfully served on staff at Living Waters Christian Fellowship in Pasadena, California, for 37 years. She had two major passions: 1) To chronicle the history of the Restoration Revival in the church during her lifetime, and 2) To pass on the operative principles of this Revival to the generations to come.

She possessed long term vision for the future, both for individuals and their gifts and callings, and for the corporate church, both locally and globally. She was truly a servant of the Church of Jesus Christ, loving its people and facilitating its ministries, both locally and internationally. Her life was built into the structure of the lives and ministries of hundreds of her students and her fellow church members. She will be greatly missed and remembered with highest honor and appreciation.

Her Memorial Service was held in Pasadena, CA, on Monday, May 11.

Joannah's friend Pastor Barry Griffing wrote, "Joannah was a delightful, friendly and fun ministry colleague. Her girlish humor and quick wit belied the elegantly understated persona she projected most of the time. . . . Joannah leaves a wonderful 3-fold legacy: a fruitful vocational minister, a diligent Bible scholar, and a delightful friend and companion."
